Apollo 11: Real or Fake?

After returning to earth, the astronauts had to be placed into quarantine. The astronauts declared "moon rock and moon dust samples" to customs when they returned to Earth. The landing was watched on television by an estimated 600 million people.

The American flag appears to be flapping as if "in a breeze" in videos and photographs supposedly taken from the airless lunar surface. The astronauts also accidentally bent the horizontal rods holding the flag in place several times, creating the appearance of a rippling flag in photographs. The module is shown sitting on relatively flat, undisturbed soil. According to skeptics, the lander's descent should have been accompanied by a large dust cloud and would have formed a noticeable crater. One of the early promoters of the moon landing conspiracy theory was the Fox television network, which in 2001, aired a documentary-style film titled Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?. It claimed that NASA faked the first landing in 1969 to win the Space Race.
